Dental veneers are thin pieces or porcelain, plastic, or other tooth-colored material cemented to the front of your teeth to change their color or shape. Veneers may be a great treatment for teeth that are:

  • Chipped
  • Discolored or stained
  • Oddly shaped
  • Unevenly spaced
  • Gapped
  • Crooked
  • Have uneven surfaces

Veneers have a long life expectancy, and great color stability. They even resist permanent staining from substances like tea, coffee, and tobacco! Best of all, this treatment is very comfortable, requiring little or no anesthesia.

Veneers are typically created by a dental lab technician working from a model provided by our dentist. As it is necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate your veneers, this treatment is irreversible. Your dental veneers will take at least three appointments.

During the first appointment, your teeth will be lightly buffed, and about a half a millimeter of the tooth will be removed to prepare them to receive the veneers. You may require an anesthetic during this stage of your treatment. A mold will also be taken and sent to the laboratory so that your veneers can be made.

When you visit our office for your second appointment, our dentist will place the veneers on your teeth, and we will check to make sure that they fit and that they match the correct color for your teeth. Your veneers will then be cemented in place. Following this appointment, there will be a two-week period of adjustment. During this time, remember to brush and floss daily. You may notice a change of size and shape in your teeth.

You will then return to our office for a follow-up appointment to ensure that your veneers fit and function properly. Do not be surprised if you see slight variations in the color of your veneers upon close inspection – this also occurs in your natural teeth.
